Drug Lists

On our behalf, a group of in-network independent doctors and pharmacists develops our Drug Lists. They consider FDA and manufacturer guidelines, medical literature, safety, accepted medical practice, appropriate use and benefit design.

• Drug Management applies to most of our plans.
• Our Preferred Drug List applies to most of our benefit plans, with just a few exceptions.
• The Specialty Drug List features drugs that are used to treat complex or chronic medical conditions.
• Our Try Generics Drug List applies to a small number of benefit plans.

A member's specific health plan determines which drug lists apply to them. Members who are not sure which drug lists apply to their plans can log into My Health Toolkit^® for personal information.

Electronic Prescribing

Keeping up with drug lists for all your patients can be challenging. With electronic prescribing, you can access patient eligibility, complete medication histories and preferred drug list information for all your patients at the point of care. The Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act requires ePrescriptions for Medicare patients beginning in 2012. And bonus incentives from Medicare began in 2009, so now is a great time to start!
