Specialty Drug List

Some of our plans provide a different level of coverage for drugs on our Specialty Drug List. With some plans, members must use CuraScript Specialty Pharmacy, our preferred specialty pharmacy vendor. CuraScript is an independent company that dispenses specialty drugs on behalf of BlueCross.

Some specialty drugs require prior authorization. To request prior authorization, call Care Continuum at 866-544-0857. Care Continuum is an independent company that administers prior authorizations for specialty medications on behalf of BlueCross.

You can find prior authorization forms for specific specialty drugs on the CuraScript prior authorization page and can fax them to 866-576-3869.

After March 31, Caremark Specialty Pharmacy will be out of network and will not be covered under members’ pharmacy benefits. Caremark Specialty Pharmacy is an independent company that administered the specialty pharmacy program on behalf of BlueCross.

Impact on members who take specialty drugs: Prescriptions with remaining refills at Caremark Specialty Pharmacy were transferred to CuraScript on April 1, 2012. A CuraScript representative may contact you for a patient’s prescription information to facilitate the prescription transfer.
