There are 16 clusters of broad groups of careers and industries created by the U.S. Department of Education. BlueCross has opportunities in 11 of 16 clusters.
Every year our recruiters review thousands of applications for job openings. You can probably find a position to match your career goals.
Within these groups, you will find jobs for people with all kinds of backgrounds. People with advanced degrees or high school diplomas work at BlueCross.
“It doesn’t matter where you are in your career, we have a position for you,” Brown says.
There’s also room to grow. Many of our employees stay for years because of the ability to move around within the company. Our Aspiring Leaders program trains employees for management opportunities.
Here’s a look at our 11 clusters and what these opportunities might look like at BlueCross.
1. Architecture & Construction
Careers in designing, planning, managing and maintaining our buildings provide general support for BlueCross’ physical locations. This includes food services, facility maintenance and safety.
2. Arts, Audio/Video Technology & Communications
Communications jobs at BlueCross produce publications and create designs to help communicate what we do. These jobs inform and educate employees, plan members, providers, and the public. These roles might include videographers, writers, designers, social media strategists and marketing professionals.
3. Business, Management & Administration
Several job families make up this cluster. It includes actuarial and underwriting positions that determine medical value using statistical and economic data.
Administrative support services help corporatewide in a variety of ways.
Claims operations examine and process claims.
Customer service positions interact with clients and resolve issues.
Human resources recruit new employees, administer benefits and manage payroll. We also have wellness staff and other personnel services for employees.
4. Education & Training
These roles promote education by keeping clients and employees current with health care trends and issues. They develop and design training materials.
5. Finance
People who work in finance and accounting at BlueCross conduct financial analysis, manage budgets and prepares reports to identify the financial condition of a department.
6. Government & Public Administration
Audit and compliance positions conduct internal or external audits for compliance with government relations and company policies.
7. Health Science
Health care is the heart of what we do. We hire a lot of people with health care backgrounds. This includes nurses, doctors, pharmacists and more.
Our medical affairs staff review medical care cases and the quality of medical services. The health care quality management team ensures quality of health care programs.
We also have research and analysis roles to conduct statistical and scientific analyses on health care-related issues, products and trends.
The provider network management group works with providers across the state.
8. Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security
Legal roles at BlueCross provide guidance and counsel for all activities.
We also have an investigation and fraud prevention group to look into any potential fraudulent actions.
9. Marketing, Sales & Service
People who work in our sales and marketing teams sell products and services. These roles may also develop new products and services.
10. Transportation, Distribution & Logistics
Similar to the first career cluster, this one includes our general services family who provide general maintenance to our buildings.
11. Information Technology
BlueCross is one of the largest technology companies in the Southeast. Part of that success stems from our apprentice program, the Entry-Level Training Program (ELTP). This program welcomes dozens of new employees every year. The I/S Division offers a vast array of opportunities in the IT sector, to include Cyber Security, Application Development, Workstation Support, Mainframe Systems Programming, Business Systems Analysis, Project Management, UX/UI, Data Analysis, IT Recruiting, and much more.
