Are you already stressed? We get it. You have a lot going on. Managing your health care doesn’t have to be another difficult task on your to-do list. Here’s a few ways to simplify your health care with help from BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina.

1. Use the app.

The My Health Toolkit® mobile app makes it easy to access any of your health insurance information on the go. You can find your most current ID cards and claims information. You can follow along on the prior authorization tracker to know where your requests are in the process. You can search for a doctor or provider that is in network. All of this and more is available with just a few taps.

2. Sign up for digital notifications.

When you create a My Health Toolkit account, you will be prompted to sign up for digital notifications. If you already have an account, you can update your contact preferences anytime in your profile. We will use this to contact you with important information related to your insurance. For example, we might text you when a new explanation of benefits (EOB) is available or when we’ve received a request for prior authorization. You’ll also get reminders about preventive care if you’re overdue for a service such as an annual physical or dental cleaning.

3. Get care anywhere.

Telehealth use spiked during the pandemic and this trend has not slowed. Using telehealth services allows you to see a doctor anywhere. Our Blue CareOnDemandSM powered by MDLIVE® lets you see a doctor any time, day or night.

Blue CareOnDemand urgent care may be appropriate for the following and many other conditions:

  • Cold and flu symptoms
  • Bronchitis and other respiratory infections
  • Sinus infections
  • Pink eye
  • Ear infections
  • Allergies
  • Migraines
  • Rashes and other skin irritations

4. Let us help you.

BlueCross has care managers who help members navigate living with chronic or complicated health conditions. This can be a great resource. If one of our care managers contacts you, it’s because we know you have a lot on your plate and we want to help. Care managers are health care professionals who can answer your questions between doctor visits. He or she upholds the same confidentiality standards as your doctor. There’s no copay or waiting room required. You can also use the My Health PlannerSM app for secure messaging. No phone calls are required.

5. Sneak peek your bills.

An Explanation of Benefits (EOB) is an important tool that can help you understand how your health insurance was applied to your doctor visits. You can find your EOBs in your My Health Toolkit account. By checking your EOBs, you can find out how much you may owe to your doctor. You can use the EOB to ensure you are paying the right amount.
