Flu Shots

Many of our members are eligible for no-cost flu shots. Coverage may be through your preventive care or pharmacy benefits.

Annual flu vaccination is one of the most effective ways to keep from getting sick from a common seasonal illness. Your flu shot can help prevent the virus from spreading to others, too.

No-cost flu shots at the pharmacy

To get a no-cost flu shot under the pharmacy benefit, you must use a network pharmacy for it to be covered. To find one:

It’s important to note that you must go to the pharmacy area of an in-network location to receive this benefit, not a convenience clinic within the store.

If you don’t see this option, your plan doesn’t include coverage for a no-cost flu vaccine under your pharmacy benefit.

Other flu shot options

You may also be able to get a flu shot at your doctor’s office or at a health clinic, such as a convenience clinic at a retail pharmacy.

In such settings, coverage would be under your preventive care benefits and the terms of your specific health plan would apply. You may need to pay some out-of-pockets costs. For instance, you may need to pay a fee for administration of the vaccine.

Additionally, some employers sponsor annual flu vaccines. Check with your Human Resources department to find out if this is an option for you.
